Smile New Guy - My collection & Help with a watch band/refurb

Hi WUS forum! Been lurking for a few weeks, and thought I'd post.

I've always liked watches, but up until Christmas, my "collection" has consisted of my old Timex Automatic, my daily Tag Heuer 4000 series (which I've worn nearly every day for 15+ years), and whatever beater watch I have that is running.

Over Christmas, I received two watches, a stylish Skagen, and a Sturhling skeleton. I really like both of them, and think they are a great value for some very inexpensive watches. The idea of having multiple watches to choose from on any given day has really put the collecting bug in me, and now I am lusting after many more watches online. Next up for me will be a Hamilton, I think.

    Here are some images:

Now to my question: I've had the Timex Automatic forever (maybe 15-20 years or more), and it still works beautifully. I don't know much about it (how to I find out more?), but I'd like to do a simple refurb to the watch glass and replace the band. The metal band broke a while back, and I just put on a mismatched leather band that I had lying around. So, here are my questions:

    1. Can you recommend an inexpensive band that would look good on this watch. The watch accepts a 19mm band. I'd prefer a metal band with a clasp.
    2. How might I do an inexpensive refresh on the watch glass?

    Timex Automatic (1980's or 1990's???)

Thanks for all the great information I've found so far on the forum!!! I still have much to learn!

Hi,welcome to the forum, that's a nice Tag,been a while since I saw that model with Tag on the case and Heuer on the bezel :)
For the band,Nowadays it is difficult to find odd mm sized band, for metal band, check out tungchoy, they sell lots of different metal bracelet
For the crystal, try either polywatch or non-fluoride toothpaste to polish it..
As for the next brand,Hamilton or Tissot are popular here

Welcome to the forum! I like the looks of that Stuhrling, it looks sharp. Hamilton is fine choice to get your feet wet, but I wanted to mention that you may want to take a look at Stowa and perhaps Oris as well if you are looking in that general price bracket. While these can be a bit more, some are more than worth it. Stowa value is amazing if you can be disciplined enough for the wait list.
