    New here. Introductions.

    Hello all.

My name is Terry. I live in Des Moines Iowa. I've got a wife and 3 little kids, ages 5;4 and 3. I work in a local utility company.

I've loved watches for as long as I can remember but up until recently I've never been able to really afford any "decent" watches. I've had a few Citizen Eco-Drives and Seikos. I've got a Sector 600 Ti chrono.
I just ordered a Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon Classic white face. It'll be my first higher-class watch.
In the future I've got my sites set on a version of the Omega Seamaster and possibly Tag Heuer and maybe even a Rolex as the kids get older. Gotta keep my eye in the same area as my wallet for now... ha!

It's good to meet you all and I look forward to taking part in your discussions.
    Thanks for having me.

    Terry-

Welcome!! I think I saw your post over on TZ regarding your recent purchase. I think you'll like the relaxed vibe over here. Some of the most knowledgeable folks around. I've learned tons.

    Hi -

    Welcome indeed!

I've been in the same situation (well, just two kids, but you know what I mean) and I've been able to indulge my desires by acquiring vintage watches: given that there really are only few watches that really gain in value over time, getting vintage watches is one way of putting together a collection without breaking the bank.

Being in Des Moines, of course, means that either you take the luck of the draw with local flea markets, etc., but also that you may luck out more than you think, given that you are off the beaten path (in the sense that there are vintage dealers in most of the bigger US cities who go out and scour their local markets...), but I'd almost see that as a benefit than a hindrance. Of course, eBay can be your friend here, but that is a while different can of worms.

What are your interests? What are your horological goals (fancy word for time-keeping). I'm one of the mods over in vintages, come on over and take a look at some of what we have over there if it is of interest.

And there's nothing quite like wearing a true piece of history on your wrist...but then again, I'm biased.

Thanks everyone. I've been mostly spending my time over at TZ but I kinda like the layout here better. Something I'm more used to in a forum.
