New 'How It's Made' episode showing Panerai tonight on TV

Just caught the last 60 seconds, it repeats tonight at 23:00 EDT on Science Channel, looks pretty cool, showing how they make Panerai watches, including how they do the waterproofing test.

I haven't seen this one before, the show has a date of 2011 so I assume it's brand new.

Saw it last night- was about 15 minutes long. Asked my wife to watch it with me but she had to water a Chia Pet I have it saved on my DVR to watch with my son. It was a pretty cool segment. Had a look at the PAM 359 which is one of my favorites

I saw it. What amazed me was the amount of robotic machining done on a really high end watch. The watch was basically assembled by hand by a "watchmaker," as the anouncer stated, but most of the machining was done by a robot. For some reason, I thought high end watches were mostly machined by hand, not by robots.

Thanks for the heads-up. I am recording this one.

Seems like I saw one a while ago with TAG Heuer too.

Yes, spot on! I thought there was more "handmade" present in making these watches. Even the placement of the jewels and lubricants was done by a machine.

    Interesting

I always imagined that you just had to rub a couple of options/FX traders together and a PAM would pop out

I don't have cable, but I found this one on you tube:

It is assembly of Blancpain Tourbillon watch.

What surprised me most from watching this video was how MOST of the assembly is done while watch is running (you can see the tourbillon cage moving) even when setting hands and other things.

Going to have a look at this episode. The one I saw previously on How It's Made was the Blancpain Tourbillion episode posted above.
