New member - help with formal watch choice for wedding

    Hi guys,

I'm a new member and new to the world of watches, but I'm quickly getting caught up in it.

I have had cheaper fashion brand watches and it wasn't until I started looking for a watch to receive as a wedding gift from my fiancé that I started down the rabbit hole.

I sold all my old watches on eBay and used the proceeds to buy a Seiko SKX007 on oyster bracelet. I plan to wear this for work.

I also have a matte grey G-shock that I wear for gym or active duties.

I am planning on asking for a Omega Speedmaster sapphire sandwich as my wedding gift, but we probably won't buy that until closer to our honeymoon as we can claim the tax upon exiting the country.

I want a nice watch to wear on the big day. I know some people turn their nose up at wearing a watch with a dinner suit but our wedding isn't strictly traditional anyway so I'm going to go with a watch.

I don't want to drop a tonne of money on it as the Speedy will be my 'special' watch but I do want to be able to look back fondly as the watch I wore on the big day and maybe hand it down to someone in the same position in the future.

I'm thinking so far either a Seiko SARB003 or a Tissot Visodate.

Would love to hear your guys thoughts on similar watches around that price point.

    Thanks in advance!

You won't find a Sarb003 for love nor money. So you can rule that out.
The Tissot is a great option. Good movement, reasonable price and good brand.
But as you obviously want some more options, here's a few. (used the price of the Tissot as a guide )

Back to Melbourne watch company, adding the Portsea range as an option.

Thanks guys, exciting times ahead. Sorry - typo - I did mean to say 'SARB033'. I would put it on a leather band, but that is the style I am going for.

Interesting regarding the Melbourne brand. I actually live in Melbourne Australia. All those model names are from suburbs in the city or towns nearby. For that reason, it kind feels a bit 'touristy' for me.....

Welcome to WUS! Nice to see another fellow Aussie.

Along the lines of the Visodate, how about either a Hamilton Intra-Matic 38mm...

    ...or a Hamilton Jazzmaster Slim?

Or you can get a vintage JLC for relatively cheap too:

I own a Tissot Tradition GMT, not a big fan of the leather strap's color (as well as the butterfly clasp), so I swap it with another strap I got from my Victorinox. I think it's looking pretty good for a suit (another option for you to consider)
