New Member Looking for Advice (Tag or Oris)

Hey guys, first time posting but have been part of this community for some time.

I am looking to buy my first real watch and have sort of narrowed it down to 2 options with prices.

Option 1: Oris Aquis Date, black face with rubber strap. Brand new. Price is $850 from Jomashop.

Option 2: Tag Heuer WAN2110, also black face. No band included. Just the face in excellent condition with all original box, papers and 1 year left on jomashop warranty.

I am leaning towards the Tag as it is smaller and thinner. What would you go for when given these two options, why?

Thanks a billion to all advice in advance.

Get the Oris of your choice.....way WAY better quality than a tag.

Re: New Member Looking for Advice (Tag or Oris)

My first "real" watch was an Oris Aquis. Spec for spec, it beats the Tag in every category except brand recognition.

However, I would advise getting it on a bracelet. Oris bracelets are fantastic.

Only con on the Oris is the proprietary lugs.

That Tag isn't bad but I think it's priced high for what you get.

Oris without a doubt for quality and value. But, as another poster mentioned, you cant put them on an afternarket strap of your choice due to the non standard lug design.

Oris and absolutely buy the braclet. The braclet is 1/3 the cost of the watch. The strap is cheap. If you don't want the bracelet, sell it, by a strap and net the additional watch discount.

I agree the Oris feels far superior in every way .. I've owned both and the only ..... Only gripe I have with the Oris is the lack of strap change options ...
Be careful though.. Oris can be a pretty addictive brand .. It's amazing value and watch for the money :)

    Good luck

Welcome to the forums! I'd opt for the Oris.

Get the Aquis on bracelet (unless you prefer the rubber strap). You'll get more recognition from the WIS/WUS brigade that way and you won't have joined the hordes who have Tags :p That being said, nothing wrong with that Tag option as well, but I reckon there is better value for money with Oris given that is essentially the same movement on the inside (regardless of the whole ETA/Sellita discussion).

As others above have said, strap changes courtesy of the lugs are the only real issue.

After handling the Aquis Date (and other Oris') at an AD when I was looking at my first substantial timepiece, I was very impressed by the build quality (plus it looks way more badass than the Aquaracer IMHO).

Thank you all for your comments. A nice warm welcome to a new member.

Wow not one opted for the TAG. Well i honestly was all the way Oris even tho i have never handled one. Then i got a chance to see the Tag and loved how thin and the size. Fit me very well.

Just supruized that people think at $750 the Tag is overpriced.

I honestly wanted rubber but a lot of people are talking me into the bracelet which i love but on jomashop the bracelet version is about 350-400 dollars more than the rubber -.-

I never handled an Aquis before but I have the newest Ceramic Aquaracer and it looks fantastic. Scratch magnet but looks great and I get a lot of compliments on it. Lol

That said, I would probably go Aquis over that specific Aquaracer model. If it's the new one then I would go tag.
