    New member saying hello

Hi everyone. I've just joined the forum in the last week and wanted to introduce myself a bit and thank everyone for the great information that I've come in contact with thus far on the forum. I have recently begun collecting watches out of necessity due to finally giving up my Oris for several months to be serviced. I realized shortly after sending it off that I had no replacement for it that would suffice for an interview so I began searching for something reasonably priced that would look professional enough to be on my wrist while speaking with a potential employer (finishing up grad school and getting ready for the job market...yikes!).

Over the course of deciding on a nice ESQ I of course ran into many many other watches that would be good for consideration as well, and thus the GAS begins but of course in this world we are apparently afflicted with WIS.

So the beginnings of a collection now consist of my Oris that I look forward to getting back in a few more months, an ESQ Drake, and what I just received today after combing these forums and finding out how much they are appreciated here, an Orient Golden Eye.

And the new Orient which just arrived today:

I have to say that I am really impressed with the look and feel of the Orient right out of the gate. It is a pre-owned Golden Eye, but arrived looking in perfect condition and just really looks sharp with the copper dial and two skeleton openings. Its operation thus far seems to be spot on as well, though I'll give it a few days and see how +- it is with its actual timekeeping.

That's it, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. Looking forward to yet another collection affliction in the years to come. Hopefully SWMBO will understand this as well as she does my guitars.

Thanks! It will probably be a little while before I start adding to the upper end of the collection, but I miss having a diver so I may have to find a blue or white Mako or Ray very soon.

Got to love Oris..I think their diver's watches are some of the most striking looking of that genre.

Both of my Oris are NOT diver's watches (oops!!)

    Greetings and welcome.

I joined recently after just being a "reader - gatherer" for two plus years. Good folks, humorous folks, knowledgable folks abound here. Good place to escape endless Kardashian, political, "it's all _____________ fault", commentary.

My Seiko Alpinist 017 arrived today and there was no letdown so I am in that happy "new watch day" state of mind.

Welcome and congrats on some nice watch additions. A year from now, it will be nice to look back at this post and see how much your collection will have grown. Start looking for a watch box with some capacity...hehe.
