New to nice watches -- need help

First time poster here, so forgive me if this is too noob.

Here are a couple of watches I like in my price range (approximately $2,000):

Unfortunately I went to the Costco.com web site, and found these:

    (Breitling $3,339, Speedmaster $3,339, Seamaster $2,899)

I like all of these, so there is not a definite type I'm looking for. The Costco deals are very good, and I have always lusted after Omegas. I know I can get a Seamaster Aqua Terra Quartz in my price range, but somehow I feel like I do not want a quartz.

I need some advice here. My head says to stick to my budget, but there is something about the watches at Costco that sing to me, especially the Omegas.

Meanwhile, given my desired price range, do you have any recs?

The Omega Speedmaster is a fantastic watch to start of a collection with. Steeped in history (the moonwatch) it is iconic and well loved. Out of all the ones that you posted I would go for that in a heartbeat as a first decent watch.

The Speedmaster -- for the simple way it displays complex information, the elegance of the chrono design, and its iconic status among collectors. I can almost guarantee if you buy the B'ling or the B&R you'll later kick yourself for not going with the Speedy in the first place.

If the Omega is what sings to you then get the omega, personally I would get the Seamaster. That Tag is pretty nice too but I'm afraid if you get the Tag you will keep thinking about the Omega and in the end you buy the Omega. Stretch your budget a little bit and get what you really want.

You don't need help. You need time to learn more about watches. That is where the fun lies. Out of the watches you listed you have come up with a good one, the Speedmaster, well done for a beginner. To me the other watches suggested are of little if any interest.

So, ideally, enjoy browsing forums, reading articles, visiting shops, etc. for a year or so and then buy a watch. If you have to have a watch right now, get the Speedy.
    Have a nice day.

Welcome to the forums! Go straight to the Omegas. If you don't, you'll be looking for an excuse to do so later ultimately costing you more money. Additonally, you'll be getting a much more interesting watch (especially with the Speedy Pro).

I echo the chorus saying "Go for the Speedmaster!" I don't favor chronographs, but of all the watches you listed, that's the one that will keep its value and you'll most likely hang on to for the longest time. It's a true classic, and would be a "first nice watch" to be proud of, indeed. Then, take your time and start soaking up the knowledge here. You'll learn a ton! But you won't regret buying that Speedy. Buying used is also an excellent idea, but the adage "buy the seller, not the watch" is very wise. A deal that seems too good to be true is usually something to be avoided, especially if you don't know a lot about what you're buying.

Happy holidays and best wishes for the New Year!

As above - get the ones you want.

Id keep saving so you can make it more affordable. Get the Omegas of that is what you want as there is a probability you will only end up getting it later on anyway.

It may be $1000 more but at the end of the day, from a purely practical standpoint, $2000 on a watch is also an unnecessary purchase. That, in my logic, means if you're spending $2000 on something you don't need an extra $1000 won't hurt
