Oculus V.02 Grand Dateur - Nautic
Valbray presents a new way to tell the time, new watches with a design that reflects the world of travel, escape and a contemporary lifestyle. Unveiled at Baselworld 2013, the Oculus collection V.02 Grand Dateur features five models. Gold Tie, Cool Blue, Nautic, Safari and Road 66 are the names chosen for these contemporary timepieces.
Valbray has now enhanced the interactivity of its watches through a circular unveiling function of the dial. The diaphragm system is even smaller (with a diameter of 43mm) and allows intermediate openings on its course, thus permitting a step-by-step reading of time.
The timepieces switch from elegant two-handers to Grand Dateurs ready for adventure. The collection is powered by a Swiss automatic movement displaying the hours and minutes, a big date and a small seconds wheel.
The Oculus V.02 Nautic is inspired by sea voyages, it’s entirely made of polished stainless steel, and features the components and colours normally associated with a sailboat. The bottom of the dial in white gel recalls the surface of a boat. The centre of the dial plate in côte de Genève represents the teak deck, and the look is completed with the strap, created in white canvas with blue stitching. Original and lightweight, the steel buckle reinforces the overall sporty image of the timepiece.
Progressive display: hours, minutes / big date / little seconds
Case and bezel 43 mm on polished stainless steel; Multi layered dial; Mechanical auto winding Swiss movement; 44 hours power reserve. Water resistance to 5 ATM; Technical white cloth strap with blue stitching; Limited and numbered edition of just 500 pieces.
Oculus V.02 Grand Dateur, Road 66
Symbol of the American dream, the mythical Route 66. Inspired by this legendary stretch of road made famous by Chuck Berry with his song Route 66, this new watch pays tribute to it.
For the Road 66’ creation and for every Oculus V.02 timepiece, Valbray wanted to further enhance the interactivity of the shutter system. With its intermediate openings, the diaphgram allows for a progressive reading of the dial. Thus, at the first step (30°), is revealed a delicate « petite seconde », at the second step (60°), an imposing « grand date » appears. Finally, at the last step (90°), the hours indicators, the minutes path and the entire dial gloriously emerge.
As with the Nautic model, Road 66’s colours and finishing offer a design reflecting the legendary route. The orange evokes the desert sands illuminated by the rays of the setting sun on the horizon. The black and white recall an intriguing tarred road with its infinite white lines stretching into the distance.
