    New watch brands at Basel?

I'm curious. I've looked at some of the reports on WUS from Basel and they are good reports, all of them, but they are on watch brands we all know well.

I would be really interested to learn if any new brands were announced at Basel this year and if so, who they are.

    Branch
    Haute Horlogerie, development and marketing
of high quality mechanical wrist watches.

    Market launch: mid-2010
    Products
High quality Swiss manufactured time pieces with
independent design and manufacture movements in the
approx. 7,000 SFr / 4,900 Euro entry category. Launch of four different watch models with the choice of two different dial colors each – Details at www.zeitwinkel.ch

    Philosophy
Zeitwinkel is independent of corporate affiliation and strives to maintain credibility and quality in every situation. Accordingly, it was decided very early on to develop own solutions for movement and product design.
The brand-name Zeitwinkel stands for endurance and visionary acting, with the goal of resource conservation. Even three years after the project start, the founders desire to express dedication and optimism with a Zeitwinkel watch, rather than standing out through glamour and marketing, has lost none of its priority.

    Engineering
Zeitwinkel watches are equipped with exclusive manufacture movements of the ZW 0102 and ZW 0103 calibers that were developed in conjunction with the renowned constructor Laurent Besse in Le Locle. Both calibers are constructed exclusively with German-silver plates, requiring exacting diligence during the manufacturing process.
The Zeitwinkel watches design was developed along with Jean-Francois Ruchonnet, of Geneva. The cases display a unique countenance using the interplay between polished and matt surfaces. More than 80 single production steps are necessary to create them, most of which are done by hand.
Component manufacture and movement fabrication, as well as the final assembly of all Zeitwinkel watches is conducted exclusively in Switzerland. For a very few components, we fall back on mid-sized family businesses in the traditional watch-making regions of Germany.

    Locations
St.Imier, Le Locle(component production), and Zug.
Market launch in Switzerland, Austria and Germany with further European countries to follow at the end of 2010. Entry into selected markets outside of Europe will ensue gradually during 2011.

    The Company
Independent of corporate affiliation, Zeitwinkel does not publish future earning estimates, revenue statements or employment figures. Due to the manufacture character of fabrication and to ensure the quality of Zeitwinkel watches, the yearly output of time pieces should, in the long run, remain in the lower four-digit spectrum. The company founders are watch enthusiasts with years of experience in horology, international management and marketing.

    Spokesmen

    Peter Nikolaus (co-founder)

This looks interesting, but the subdial is way to big for my taste.

I like the black dial Zeitwinkel...I don't mind the larger subdial. I'm not sure about the power reserve on the white dial, though -- I'm still trying to get used to the idea of having a "fuel gauge" on the front of a watch.

I could get used to it. I've seen all the Zeitwinkel models at Peter Nicolaus' home last year and more recently at BaselWorld and I really like the black dialed models best.
