    To accentuate little big feather's response, you can get a Longines Legend Diver at the upper end of your range (lots of history with this particular watch):

    I think the point we're all trying to make is that you have MANY great options in your price range. It's more about honing in on the style of watch (diver, chronograph, field, dress...) you prefer. Any of the brands mentioned so far (I'll also add Victorinox Swiss Army and Seiko) would be a fine choice. Have fun with the research!
