New watch release: Longines Heritage 1969

Longines in my opinion is quite ballsy with their reissues of historical models. Check this upcoming Longines Heritage 1969: 36x36mm, very faithful to the original, supposed to be below $2k. Quirky looks, vintage size... I personally like it.

For further information, there's a couple of articles around (Hodinkee and Watches by SJX).

It's great to see a REAL homage for a change.

That's probably one of the best Longines reissue in years. The 35mm Conquest and the Legend Diver are the only two that come any close to this one.

I see they also started using the new generation of ETA movements... Strange- 25200 vph is the frequency typical for movements with the co-axial escapement? At least I haven't seen it in any movement using the Swiss lever escapement.

64h power reserve? That's something alright... At least it's not another 2824 with its 38h power reserve. The 2824's fine, but it's out of date.

Reissues are reissues and not homages. I think this reissue is pretty sweet!

Love those "out of date" movements.

Looks great! I know the original had the date issue but I wish they released a no-date version too, would clean up the dial massively.

Re: New watch release: Longines Heritage 1969

The date's a deal-breaker here. I suspect they had no choice on the location, but that just argues more strongly for no date. This one in particular makes the watch face badly unbalanced to my eye.

I think I'd also prefer something other than rose gold plating for the indices and hands, or use a different dial color. I'm not a big fan of gray with rose gold...or perhaps go several shades *lighter*, to something like a dirty white. That works better for me.
