New to Watchuseek....How does it compare to .....?

New to this forum. Was looking at some reviews of Limes watches and came upon it. Is this a more Eurocentric version of Timezone?

Welcome aboard! NO, this is, what I considered to be, "a friendlier version of Timezone." If you currently participate on Timezone as many do here, I think you start to notice that this is a bit more relaxed, open for discussions that speak about other Forums, auction sites & trading sites, while still adhereing to the Rules Of Conduct.

Correct! Not to start trouble, but I've migrated away from Timezone and haven't missed it a bit. Here, it's much more relaxed, informal, and open to a broader range of watches.

I would certainly agree with Bob and Matt in that we strive to be as welcoming/informal as possible while still being second to none in the great watch info one can find here!
Our worldwide membership is just a huge plus as I'm always learning of different locales and lifestyles constantly.
Welcome to WUS steelydad (Walter? Donald? lol)!

The rules are a bit more relaxed on this forum compared with TimeZone. Certainly on TZ you will find many helpful people with a wealth of knowledge, but that's true here too. The most unfortunate aspect of TZ is that you cannot post links to a lot of outside sites, for example that sell watches. You can't discuss prices, or name dealers, and while the forum owners at TZ must have valid reasons for this, it can be extremely restrictive.

I've been banned from TZ and Watchnet. It's too polite over there now.

Be interesting how the dynamic changes regarding what can be discussed, what commercial issues raise their heads, etc now that the TZ forum has been sold to Antiquorum ...

Contrary opinions and vigorous discussion make a site interesting. No don't tell me. You posted one too many "What do you think of my new watch" posts? Well if it makes you happy, I think it's lovely ...

The reason for the strong rules on TZ is that it is funded by advertising, and hence they prevent any links to shops and sellers who do not pay TZ any money. I presume that is also why they want a calm atmosphere that does not intimidate casual visitors. After all, they probably constitute the bulk of the clicks on the advertisers links and hence generate most revenue. I guess it is a successful business model.

I don't understand why so many people use TZ. The tyranical rules confused me. My first, second and third posts were deleted without explanation. You can't post a picture, only a link to a picture, and of course you can't ask if a given dealer is any good, or where to buy cheap.

That is still a link and you will still need a host for the image (which is the point I was making, though not well).
