    New Year's Resolution

For 2011 my New Year's resolution will be to NOT purchase any watches (unless of course they are gifts).

2010 was a great year for me, both personally and horologically. I got married in July and added several great pieces to my collection this year.

I am very grateful for the amazing (IMHO) collection that I currently have so I want to spend 2011 loving all my watches and not think about the "next watch". So I will make it my goal to control myself until 2012... hopefully by 2012 I would've saved enough money to reward myself with a new watch .

Not sure how the watch makers / retailers feel about your solution but personally I think it's a good one :P

    Cool Re: New Year's Resolution

This resolution is posted to please the Mrs... [and she is reading because of the huge fan base she created after gifting this Rollie a week ago...]

See, most of us here are like bloodhounds - we sniff when something is fishy from a mile away. In translation, your NY resolution sounds like "yes, dear, I will stop talking about watches; alright, honey, I will wear my X/Y/Z more often or sell it; yes, gorgeous, I should reduce/thin my collection", etc LOL

I am being honest - we have some important family milestones next year. As long as those are not in jeopardy, I WILL BUY MORE WATCHES, because it gives me joy like no other thing with a price tag can.

    Re: New Year's Resolution

I will probably get as many watches as my wallet lets me get away with in 2011 ... and, then some! I might flip a few though it's getting tougher and tougher to do that ...

My philosophy is "Quality AND quantity".
    Collection:
A few of this and some of the other ...

I am going to lose 20 kg.

I am going to cease consuming alcohol.

I will never look at another attractive woman.

And I will not buy another watch.

Gee...was that a pig that just flew over my house????

I will regrow my hair, retire, and stop buying vintage watches.

..... and if you believe that, I have a bridge in NY for sale you'll be interested in.

    Re: New Year's Resolution

Spend less time on WUS, buy less watches than I did this year, and not get expelled from high school.

Yeah..... Only the last one will happen. I know.......

Yessir! I can get behind that 100%. Words to live by.
I will just do what makes me happy. I will buy as many watches as I can afford. I will also drink the best hooch that I can afford, eat good food and enjoy life as much as I possibly can. The restrictive resolutions can wait 'till I'm broke and/or dead.
My only real watch-related resolution is to be absolutely scrupulous about condition...I've noticed that even little compromises grate after a while

It's tough not to look at that one lone dot on a dial, isn't it? I'm the same way.
