    New Zenith's accuracy.. acceptable?

Hi all, i recently purchased the 2017 version of Zenith El Primero 39mm..

Upon testing over a week plus, it seems to be constantly gaining +9 secs / day.. my JLC is only +1.5 secs / day...

Is this normal? Or should i get it to the service centre to get it checked? If the rate is normal, can i get it regulated? since its gonna be my daily beater, i don't adjust time regularly, so after a long time, its gonna run quite alot..

If you don't like to adjust the time try quartz. I'd accept about a minute / week but I think I'm in the minority here concerning acceptable time keeping.

9 seconds a day is within reasonable limits. The watch is fine and might keep better time after several months

That's a relief knowing its normal.. coz most of my watches keep better timing.. except ETA 2824 and Chinese movements.. i tried going back to quartz after experiencing mechanical, i sold off the watch within a week.. lol.. guess i'll have to get used to it then..

I think you should get it regulated - is a high beat El Primero for god’s sake.

    Demagnetize it.
My Zenith Pilot was around +10 when I first brought it home.
Ran it across a demagnetizer and it immediately went to +2 and has stayed there ever since.

Is the watch cosc? If not then 9secs is probably within tolerance?

    1) El Primero does not have published accuracy specs, but I expect 9 sec/day is within their acceptable range. Mine is solid <1 sec/day
    2) It doesn't hack, so perhaps time drift is based on how it's set?
    3) demagnetize it - sometimes even tiny timekeeping deviation can be managed by demagnetizing
    4) I would not service it over this - this is a complex movt that needs to be worked on by Zenith watchmaker. Everytime a watch is open - you risk other problems. 9 sec per day is fine (especially since seconds are on subdial) and not worth a risk of fingerprints, lint, scratches and other service horror stories

I like my watches to be within a minute of the correct time. With +9 I would have to reset once a week. That would not be acceptable to me. I have an skx009 that is -10 and I almost never wear it for that reason. My current daily, a Tudor is +0.5, meaning I need to set it once a month or two (same as the date).
