Time is relative.
I like it!! All my adult life...I have given and given and what have I gotten in return? Not one damn thing!
If she gets a "Rock"....By God, he gets a "Clock"!*
* Watch, because clock rhymed.

Thanks for sharing Dave. I'm not sure about watches being great investments though. Timeless (if you pick the watch with a bit of care) yes investment - no (IMHO)
Nice article. Thanks for sharing.

Interesting article, and I support the idea of guys getting watches while girls getting rocks wholeheartedly. In fact, I think watches carry more sentimental values than rocks, as they are more personal. So happens that it worked out that way in my case anyway, albeit the watch came two years after the engagement.
I would choose a nice watch over any other jewelry from my wife (hope she is reading this!!)

Man, if I could get my wife to spend the same amount on a watch for me as I spent on her ring I could have the PP 5140 perpetual calendar I have always wanted. Since it hasn't happened in 13 years of marriage I ain't holding my breathe!
In theory yes, in practice hard to do. Other than the size of the diamond and the little intricacies in a ring, there is much less chance of getting a ring outside her tastes compared to a watch. Unless the guy is one already into a certain type of watches, where she can tell with high surety he would like it, or he's someone the opposite who would wear any watch given to him, she may not get the watch that he'll want to wear for the next 20, 30 years...rest of life.
I'm suprised the big watch manufacturers haven't jumped into this with advertising campaigns. It worked well for De Beers.
Sounds more like fashion magazine article to me,
Watches Are Terrific Investments
yeah right...
and as far as rocks, well I thank God to have the perfect wife when it comes to that, she earns enough money herself to afford the biggest piece of polished carbon in the jewelery store and yet refuses to wear one because it's absolutely pointless.
As long as the brides of the world are OK with the idea that you might not always wear the watch that they gave you.
