Noob question about an unusual IWC

This is my first post, so please forgive any unintentional transgressions on fora etiquette.

I'm just dipping my toe into the dangerous waters of horophilia, and looking for my first grown up watch. I'm absolutely in love with the IWC Vintage hand wound moonphase, but at that $16K, I'd have to sell a kidney or count on my kids getting into service academies.

HOWEVER, browsing around I found this interesting thing on E-Bay. Antique IWC International Watch Co Schaffhausen Chronometer Portofino Style Case | eBay

It purports to be a 1910 movement put into a new custom case.

Am I right to be intrigued by this? Is this most likely a sow's ear dressed up as a silk purse?

Any advice and guidance would be welcome. Thanks so much, oh wise ones, for any pearls you might drop my way.

Just so you realize ... it's a re-cased pocket watch and it's really big.

(BTW, Welcome. I really like your screen name ... something I've been accused of being myself from time to time.)

Is it the Russian again? It's a Frankenwatch....Named after the famous fictional character, Frankenstien.
And the same as the watch...Fictional.

Thanks, I figured it had to be a pocket watch. 47mm is huge, for sure. It's definitely unique.

He's from Ukraine. There's still a distinction for the time being

I'd much rather have it as the pocket watch that it once was.

it's basically an old IWC pocketwatch movement put into a custom made case,

sometimes it's done very well, and sometimes sloppily, though lately they've been doing a pretty good job,

after seeing a few of these made first hand and the amount of work and craftmanship put into it, I personally like it,
    it's definitely unique,
    but definitely not everyone,

it's one way to preserve great movements and craftmanship instead of letting them waste away,
preserving them in their original case would be the most ideal, but a lot of times these movements are without a home
