    Omega on Psych

Looks like the TV show Psych has to definitely by sponsored by the Swatch group right? This season they showed plenty of clear wrist shots of watches, and in yesterday's episode they showed a rich Texan wearing a Speedmaster, when the guy sitting next to Shawn (the main character) says "Nice watch, Omega Speedmaster special edition. Astronauts wore that watch on the moon. About a hundred grand retail."

As far as I know, the price is wrong, but whatever. Name: speedmaster psych.png

Here is the watch that Shawn wears (from an earlier episode):

And Detective Lassiter's watch (from the same episode as the PO) where he described it as "this old thing? It just keeps on ticking like the heart of a wounded elephant"

They do some pretty blatant Ford and Autotrader advertising too.

That's hilarious. I really DONT mind product placement at all as long as it's not blatantly obvious they're trying to sell me something. But that line about the "omega speedmaster" is over the top. It completely takes you out of the show and into 'I'm being sold something" mode.

Same here. I couldn't have said it any better. And even seasons afterwards it sticks with me. I can still remember an example from last season when Lassiter is taking his sister, Lauren, on a drive with him:

Lauren: You know, this doesn't seem like a normal city issued police vehicle.

Lassiter: Good eye! It isn't. This is my personal vehicle. It's a Ford Fusion... Hybrid. Sort of the trappings that come with my position in life. I'm a very 21st century crime fighter. I'm dialed in with all the cutting edge technology. In fact, look at this; it's the Sync button. With one finger I can access your daily horoscope. (Horoscope reads out loud). We should probably go, but later we should see how this baby does in a high speed pursuit, huh?

And here is the Autotrader scene from yesterday (notice nobody is on the computer, it's just sitting with that screen up):

I wonder why they would say the Speedmaster costs 100k?

They've also done Snyder's of Hanover pretzels and Twizzlers.

The whole show is very tongue in cheek and does not take itself seriously at all, so the very obvious product placements really do not bother me.

While not a product placement, one of my favorites pieces of dialogue was from a few seasons ago when they ranked on The Mentalist for basically copying Psych.

Those Mentalist jokes are really funny. Its been a running gag ever since The Mentalist came out.

That Speedy looks like a "Patch" limited edition. MSRP in Canada was $5200.
Mind you give Omega a few years at the way they're going and I'm sure we'll see a 100K Speedy!

I love Psych, Maggie Lawson, and my Omega Speedmaster Professional.

Funny, my brother texted me about my watch in this episode a few minutes ago. I haven't watched it yet. How big is that guy's wrist? Mine is nearly 8" and my Speedy looks great, but on that guy's wrist it looks tiny!

How did it get so late so soon?
