Yeah, if you google the case number, you tend to get a tv-shaped dial with a 10xx movement and integrated bracelet. So, unless it's just an outright franken, one might presume that the back got inadvertantly swapped with another on a watchmaker's bench, or purposefully replaced with one that fit and was handy because the original one was somehow damaged.

Are you familiar with the omega vintage database? You can search on movement caliber or case ref # (or both). If you search on 562, you find a dozen or so Seamasters it was used in. Of those with a picture, yours looks most like this one to me since the outside edge of the lugs form a continuous arc with the outside of the case:

    OMEGA Watches: Vintage Watches Database

You can go to the top of this linked page, select Advanced Search and select 562 from movement field to see all cases it came in. They may have offered multiple dial and hand combinations for the same case ref # but only show one, so don't worry about that not matching with yours.

The 562 is one of their best movements. If you weren't aware, you can advance the date by moving the hands to 1:30am, then turning them back to 10:30ish (you should hear a slight click), then advance again.

For more input, you may want to post in the Omega and or the Vintage forums too.

I think you might be right... the back cover might have been switch ???
I'm wondering if the watch is worth buying since the ref # does not match the movement.
the watch does keep time flawlessly with no issues... but in the long run how much less is the value of the watch with these issues?
    Thank you...
