Omega: Winding crown in the wrong direction?

I'm new to the forum and I recently purchased an Omega Speedmaster Date. I was trying to adjust the time as the time was incorrect from sitting in the display case at the store. I thought I had pulled out the crown, but it turns out the crown was still in Position 1 (all the way in).

I was trying to wind the crown clockwise (TOWARD 12 o'clock) and managed to wind it a little bit despite meeting resistance. According to the manual, the crown should be turned counter-clockwise (AWAY from 12 o'clock) to wind up the watch and makes no mention of turning it clockwise. Could I have damaged anything?

The watch seems to be working just fine, I'm just a little paranoid as this was a huge purchase for me. I want to make sure I didn't break anything. Any help would be great. Thanks!

You won't damage it spinning the crown backwards. It just won't wind that way!
    Lots of dive watches.
