Which one ? (another X vs Y post)

    Hi guys,

I am thinking to by an automatic watch (it will be my first automatic, in fact) and would like to know which of the two you like most:
    - Oris TT1 Divers Date;
    - Longines Hyrdo Conquest Auto;

They are in the same price segment. Oris seems to use a Sellita movement and Longines an ETA.

They are both divers 300 m WR, SS.

I want quality, reliability, durability, accuracy.

    Thanks,

I love my Oris and it fits the bill for quality, reliability, durability and accuracy.

Also, I prefer the look of the Oris in your pics above.

    No experience with the Longines.

I'm betting both are great, go for the one that looks better to you.

QUICK!!! Which one do you prefer??? Whichever your gut tells you, get that one.

flip a coin. I have 2 of the tt1's and they are accurate. oris has been using the sw200 for quite awhile so I trust the movement.

LONGINES (because of the dial, don´t like the "structured" dial of the ORIS).

    Longines based on appearance.

    I'm sure they're equally good, quality-wise.
I prefer the looks of the Oris.
    Good luck!

the longines numerals are strangely large. the rest of the watch is very bland and takes elements from Rolex, brietling, tag.
The Oris dial is very clean, with strong lume. The bracelet/case is design specific, and clearly original and it's OWN design. The hour markers and hands are polished, which pulls in the polished bracelet links, and "dresses" it up a bit. Comprehensive design.
The Oris fits VERY nicely. Although its listed as 44mm. This case tapers upwards, and is only 41mmOD at the bezel, which is VERY smooth, and lines up perfectly.
The Oris KILLS the Longines, and is more comprable to Omega and higher dollar watches.
I'm also Incredibly biased, as I own two Oris.
Longines does their master collection and "pilot" type watches, and "evidenza" dress watches very well. Their Divers are a mediocre attempt at generating some market share and should create something unique, rather than what they've done here.
Sorry to yuck anyone's yum here.
FWIW, the new 45mm Longines Master is a beautiful piece that i'm considering.

i aside from the hr hand which borrows from tudor, i don't see much design elements from B. or Tag specifically.

    Oris likes & dislikes:
    - interesting case
    - well made hefty bracelet
    - don't like the wave textured dial
    - custom endlinks means no aftermarket strap options

    Longines likes & dislikes:
    - good dial layout and visibility
    - better post-sale service & repair
    - dislike the combination of the stick and dot markers (get rid of the latter)

Go with the ORIS TT1. It looks amazing in person, as the bracelet is the best I have seen on a watch. Everything is so smoothly and beautifully done. Its the perfect design, backed by a respectable brand and reliable movement. You should compare the Oris with Omegas, not that Longines(whats with the oversized numbers on the dial?) :)

For the moment Oris TT! Divers Date is the 1st on the list (even if generally speaking I'm a Longines fan).
The only "drawback" would be the Sellita SW200 movement that replaced the ETA formerly used. I say drawback because I don't know much about this movement. Some people say it is slightly inferior to ETA though I haven't heard anything bad about it and the people are reporting a very good accuracy.

    Your experiences/knowledge is greatly appreciated.
