Opinion on addition of nato strap to non-typical recipient watch.

I understand rules concerning formal looking watches and tactical straps like the nato. But I thought Id still ask what you guys thought. I personally think that this watch might not qualify on being too formal. Unfortunately I hate the look of sport or dive watches, so there is absolutely no changing my mind on this watch. If you do happen to agree that I should get a nato style watch band, do you know of any manufacturers that make a strap that comes in blue and is thicker than an actual nato (Zulu, Rhino, Waterborne, ect. ?). I cant find one... And any other color suggestions? (In case blue cant be found or something just looks better)

This is a CEM6W001D if you were wondering.

I think that watch is crying out for nice black leather rather than a Nato. But, no harm in trying if you want to. I don't wear the things though so I don't know any suppliers. Should be plenty of sources on the 'net. Another option other than standard leather might be this:

Black Brady Sailcloth strap with blue stitching

Basically, a NATO strap turns an expensive watch into a cheap-looking toy in my opinion. Your Orient looks great as is and it looks like it fits perfectly. Why mess with success? Or, try a sporty black strap as suggested by GlennO. A NATO on your watch would look pretty strange I think.

Personally, my opinion is if you choose the right Nato strap it could look quite nice and give it a sporty look for times when you want a less formal look.

Nato straps come in hundreds of color combinations and styles. The trick is getting one that works well with your watch. In your case a Nato with different shades of blue and/or grey and a thin red line to complement the watch logo would probably look great.

Check out the look of these.

Not going to lie to you...the photo of this setup is the first time I have even considered a Seiko 5. If you don't mind, please give me the model numbers of this setup. I promise you I will embroider "Designed by GlennO" on the inside of the watchband. Well done!

Yeah. Not mine though, it came off the Bradystraps site. I wonder if anyone knows the model number.

Unless your Nato cost you more than the watch, don't use one.

Ha! Appreciated but as I say it's not mine. We should have a competition to find the model number.

Damn you! Seiko 5 desire decreasing...decreasing...decreasing...gone.

Seriously, I can't even find a 5 with those hands.

I shall persevere. I shall find this elusive 5. WUS can depend on me!
