Question Opinion & Questions: Microbrands vs Established Brands

Opinion & Questions: How do you view Microbrands? Do you find that both, Microbrands & Established Brands, entering in your watch collection with different exceptence? With a balanced collection of the mentioned watch types, how much wrist time do you prefer wearing microbrands? For myself, as an example
at this moment, I am wearing a Squale 1545 Root Beer; which I chose easily over wearing a Rolex Sea Dweller 116600 that I own. In a way, I find this odd for myself; were I cannot explain why I chose to wear a watch's net worth less than the sales tax I payed for my Dweller. Please feel free to enlighten me on this anomaly I have and your own experiences.

Squale are pretty established. Supplying cases 70 years ago and making/marketing under their own brand in the 70s.

I've had and continue to own both. Heritage is overrated (well, overpriced at the very least).

This used to be my signature, but now it's just this generic drawing of a watch.

    Hey, Doc,

I found myself thinking about you and other's making a go of it here in the US who started their own Microbrands. Perhaps this is a topic for another thread but how will the recent Chinese Tariffs affect your business? I ask here because you tend to be rather generous and outspoken in regards to sharing your views of the microband segment of the watch industry.

And to a larger point, since so many of the established Swiss brands rely on Chinese parts, how will these Chinese Tariffs affect the rest of the watch market here in the US?

Perhaps we should start with what defines a microbrand?

Squale isn't a microbrand. It's a smaller and less recognized brand, but that doesn't make it a micro.

So basically you're asking why do people like some watches more than others... "micro" whatever has nothing to do with it - you like/love/hate watches or not first and foremost, regardless of what segment of the industry they come from.

However, I see the thread is already being well-hijacked for other reasons so you should see some fireworks nonetheless...

If I let just the brand dictate everything I buy, I would not have nearly as many quality watches to enjoy.
