Opinions/Experience: Men's Rolex Cellini Danaos XL

So today I can take delivery of a Baume/Mercier gold Classima automatic. Nice watch, but I'm having second thoughts and don't know if I want it now. Sucks that I already paid for it (but I can return it).

So now I'm taking a serious look at Rolex's Cellini Danaos XL line, have no experience with it. Interested in the gold models. Any opinions? Please fire away, if you think they suck just say so I won't be offended. I don't know anyone who has one, so I thought it may be a bit of a unique Rolex to have, go ahead and disabuse me of that notion too if I am wrong.

Also, if there's any other Rolex I should consider, let me know: not interested in any blingers or giant watches with half a dozen dials, want something plain, simple, thin, quality.

So, any thoughts appreciated, I may pull the trigger later today once traffic dies down at the local AD.

18k rosé gold. You can't get more understatement than that.

JLC Ultra Thin/Master Grande Ultra Thin or a Blancpain Villeret ... a Piaget Altiplano is great too! Or perhaps a Girard-Perregaux 1966 ... else a Zenith Elite Ultra Thin?

Dammit. Dammit. Looking at what you guys posted, they are so much nicer than the B &M, they are superior pieces for not a lot more money. I'm going to feel like a tool going in and cancelling what I bought. :(

Already have the JLC ultrathin 38mm in steel/silver, man do I love that watch, it is so solid and smooth, comfortable, thin -- it's what made me reconsider this recent purchase.

Each of the pieces you posted could last a lifetime and look great. So bummed now.

I don't know your budget would be but does the gold B&M Classima has a MSRP of $4,400? Those watches others recommended are much more expensive though. Out of those recommendations, I prefer Blancpain, Zenith, and JCL (but you already have one).

Eh the top-of-the-line B & M Classima is all 18K gold, with gilt numerals, the MSRP was $5800, which I did think was a bit high, considering the quartz versions of the Classima are like $1500 or so.

I'm generally comfortable with spending up to around $20k per watch, I usually get one or two and am set for quite a long time. This was my first foray into maybe a mid-tier watch, and before even taking delivery, I'm already questioning the decision. Problem is this AD doesn't have any good high end stuff except Rolex and B & M, the rest is Tissot, Hamilton, etc., stuff that doesn't interest me.

Damn, off to the AD and I don't like cancelling orders.
