    Oris Big Crown 1917

    Hey all,

anyone have any opinions on this model? I see it is a remake of a watch from 100 years ago. I think it looks really cool. Any one have one yet? i see that only 1917 are being produced. Thoughts?!?!

It's cool. Is it 2400 CHF cool? (roughly 1:1 CHF to USD ratio as of me posting this) That's the question you need to answer--- actually probably start with the "can I even still get one" question and work pricing from there.

One thing to note that should be obvious but isn't always is that it's a 2-hander. While period-accurate, my 2017 sensibilities find 2 handers strange in a mechanical watch today. IMHO and all that. For a special piece that might be less of a problem that if you were using it as your daily wear.

I've been coveting this watch for some time and I never noticed that. Even if I could afford it, that would be a deal breaker. Otherwise, it's beautiful.

It took me a few minutes of staring at it, but I eventually warmed to the aesthetic. It's got a quirky appeal, and the more I look at it...the more I like it. I also think the unique time-setting function is pretty cool, and at 40mm it should wear pretty well. Crap, I'm actually really diggin' it now.
