Oris Diver 65 Blue Dial vs Alpina Seastrong Heritage vs Longines Legend Diver

    So, happy new year!

My first new watch purchase in some time is coming up, and I am strongly leaning towards a heritage diver.

I had a look at the Black Bay but discounted that on the basis that it looked too plain for my eyes, even though the build quality was obviously superb.

This left me with three watches under consideration, the Oris 65 with the blue dial, the Alpina Seastrong Heritage and the LLD. The only watch from the three that I have dealt with to any great degree is the Oris, and I love the depth in the dial. I love the way the watch looks, although I find the quality of the basel leaves a bit to be desired.

I am yet to view either the Alpina or the LLD. The double crown appeals to me. I wanted to hear some of your thoughts on which one you prefer, and why?? Also, can someone shed some light on the respective quality of the Oris? Can I also point out that the date window on the Alpina does not bother me.

Between your 3 choices, I'm taking the LLD. My only problem with the watch is I desperately wish the hour hand had some beveling. That pure flat look bothers me. As for the Oris, I much prefer the printed dial with numerals to the indices. The Alpina is a nice piece but the date window bothers me. If you really like the super compressor style case, NTH has some new watches with that style case you may be interested in. Just google NTH watches. I think the pre-order price is $500. I, and others, can vouch for the quality of these watches. I got one of the milsub style watches and it is quite excellent.

I would drop the Alpina from your list and choose between the Oris and the LLD. You seem more interested in those two anyway. Out of the two, I would choose the Oris. I've heard nothing but good things about the 65, and own an Oris myself and love it.

I'm partial to the Oris. They are all nice watches, you can't go wrong.

I vote for the LLD. In fact, I did just that this year. I find the look more flexible, part dress watch, part sport watch, and as divers go, the Supercompressor case is much more unique than the external bezel design that the Oris has. In fact, you mentioned that the Black Bay was too plain for you...yet the Oris isn't? I love Oris, but would tire of this one before the LLD.

I would go with the Oris. I really like the cream indices and hands against the deep blue background and also like the trapezoidal date window. The LLD is too black and white for my tastes, but it is still a nice watch. The Alpina appears to be a watch that would be difficult to read since its hand's match the dial background. That seems to be a design team failure to me.

That Alpina is nice looking and the date window does not bother me; it certainly is a sharp look and for $1000, well...
The LLD would be second choice in my book, especially as it is about 50% more than the Alpina.
The Oris has underwhelmed every time I handle one; it is too light and seems a little incoherent in the version you show.

Of the three you are examining I'd go with the Oris every time.
