    Patek on NATO ???????????????

I read this on Hodinkee and thought i would share. This guy has my dream watch- the Patek 5960P and he chooses to wear it on a NATO. Thoughts? Thats about $80,000 worth of watch on a $10 strap.

If the $80,000 watch were on a $200 croc, would that be better?

I don't see the point of the whole "watch costs $X, strap costs $Y" thing.

That NATO is quite well matched to the watch. Definitely less awkward than a green + orange NATO on a black tool watch.
I'm content with my watch collection

    Looks good to me.
    Seriously, why not??
Is there some basis - of whatever kind/source of authority - that pairs the 'value' of a watch with what 'value' of strap/bracelet it must/should have?
I have watches with straps that cost more than the watch itself, and it works for me that way too.

BTW, I've noticed that for many people that is an outrage: strap $ > watch $.

Nato is clashing with the style of any Patek. Like a Ferrari on Rabbit rims.

I agree with Mr. Stuffler...the NATO clashes with the identity of the watch. How can this watch/strap combination even be justified?

Just wondering - based on your use of excess of ? marks:
Is it really a matter of "styling" only? Matching colors, etc.
Or a violation of something intangibly (or imaginarily) "sacred"?
What if the name was not Patek?
What if, same dial design, but a much "lesser" name on the dial?
Would you have used as many ? marks?

Looks okay, but the NATO isn't wide enough for the lugs. Although the watch has a day-date-month complication? Who forgets what month it is?

This could be an issue for formal attire, but otherwise it's not that bad, more power to the owner of the Patek.

This just proves my old saying: "NATO: The strap that turns any watch into a cheap $10.00 replica".
