Is paypal enough protection when buying a watch?

    Hi,

I was wondering if I really needed to go through a bunch of hoops when buying a watch < $1k USD here or whether paypal would sufficiently protect me. Thanks for any advice.

In the USA paying by credit card is an even better idea.

you could also set your paypal to pay with a credit card... even more protection. never pay as gift, always as "purchased goods"

Its good but common sense is a good protection.

Dont buy from someone who doesnt have pics/stock pics only.
Be wary of buying from someone who has been a member for one day and has signed up just to sell. They may well be legit but do some research before buying.
Dont expect the seller to send your item insured and tracked free of charge or assume they will offer this service as standard. They may well offer it but you might need to ask.
Dont ask the seller to mark your item down to avoid customs fees. If it gets lost you can only claim for the amount its marked for not the price you paid.

You might have done all this but too many buyers dont and then worry afterwards. If your wary dont buy the item you want will always turn up again.
