    Angry Are people really such suckers

    A clown in Texas is doing a Buy Now on the bay with a $97 Parnis, Seagull ST2530. His buy now is $339. I hope he includes domestic shipping.
    I want to send him a message:

    Dear Mr. Ripoff,

    <Mod edit>

    Thank you

    he does not actually want to sell the watch. he wants the minimum amount of listings to get some perk from eBay.
    the same thing happens all the time on Amazon.

    Can you elaborate? I've never heard of this.

    P.T. Barnum had something to say about that.

    When you list multiple lots of the same item for sale on ebay on a "buy it now" basis, where it appears on a search will sometimes depend on how long the listing has been going.
    If a seller has sold out of one particular item and is waiting for new stock, they sometimes increase the price to a stupid figure so that the listing won't drop off and have to go to the bottom of the list when they get new stock and relist the goods.

    Mike, you are going to have a full time job policing Ebay auctions and forum sale listings for inappropriate pricing. You may need to hire an assistant just to fire off all those emails. I would rather spend my time looking for watches to buy. I figure the market will take care of those listings or they will be a valuable lesson for someone who chooses not to do their homework.

    Thank you for the explanation Chuasam. I have seen this on Amazon and had wondered about the sudden jump in prices but had no idea why.
