    Perspective on Maurice Lacroix

Hi, what do you guys think about Maurice Lacroix. Does this brand have any bright future ahead? So far, i dont see anyone appreciate this brand or collectors. My thoughts on this brand keep on changing by time to time. At one moment, by looking at their masterpiece model, i kinda think this brand sits side by side with zenith, iwc. But now i'm not sure.

I owned a Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Jour et Nuit before. There were all kinds of problems and inconsistencies with the finish on the dial and hands. I personally wouldn't trust to buy a watch from them again, but others may have had better experiences.

I always kind of liked this brand for its value. it was good place to get a good level of complication and a traditional look for a mid-tier price, however I think the niche is better served now by Mont Blanc.

I had a masterpiece small seconds. Nice watch but nowhere near my Zenith.

To be fair it was like 5000 cad cheaper than my Zenith though.

I believe they are generally a good value on the used market. Seems like they never really found their own identity. They made a push in the last few years with the Gravity and Pontos, but the last I heard the company was for sale. Not sure where they stand at this point.

Future outlook is not good. They've been looking for a buyer for some time.

Reviews I've read have generally been, IIRC, decent value, but lacking identity.

I wouldn't buy one at retail price but at the prices they go for on the grey market I think they are great value. I have a Pontos chrono and it's a great watch that is high on my rotation.

Which one do you have? I am interested in the newer pontos s model but think 43.5mm might be too big.

The brand covers a lot of territory producing everything from quartz offerings to the high end of their Masterpiece line with 10k+ watches. The brand has 13 manufacture movements and some very unique complications. Additionally, ML is one of the few brands that also manufactures and finishes its own cases. There is a lot for a potential buyer of the brand to like. What is unclear is what the buyer would do - whether they will continue forward with the brand in the diverse state it is in, move up market with the manufacture movements, or utilize the manufacture movements for another brand in a conglomerate. Whatever the case may be, I love my Masterpiece Roue Carree.

I really like that one. So cool.

I like a lot of their offset dial watches as well.
