The Pilot watch that Seiko did not build

I like Pilot watches and I have a few. Some however tend to be expensive, especially if they are Swiss or German made. I thought why wouldn’t Seiko make one that was good looking and of a proper size? They have a smaller one that is 38mm or so but while that is good for smaller wrists, I wanted something that was a little larger. At 42mm this is a pretty good size, not perfect by any means, but at least another option. It was made using all Seiko parts, the case is from a Military Seiko SNZG series, sandblasted case it appears, the dial is from the BFS SNKF011, the hour and minute hands are from a Seiko FFF and the seconds hand is from a Seiko 5. So Seiko has all the parts that they need to make it. They didn’t but I did.

I like it and therefore I thought to share. Here are a few photos to show the result, sorry for the lint and dust specs, but I hope you enjoy nevertheless.

It looks great. I'd be happy to spend money on it.

YUP, I love Pilots too. And, this one has a nice look about it for sure.
They may be asleep at the switch, but you weren't.
    Congratulations on a great idea.

I think it looks fantastic. My only gripe (and not with anything you did), is the Seiko 2-tier dial... which is a personal pet peeve of mine. It has always seemed to me that this was just an afterthought on their part to put a smaller watch in a larger case. Maybe I am totally wrong, but that is what I think every time I look at them. However, with that being said, I think what you did looks awesome.

Re: The Pilot watch that Seiko did not build

Thank you all for the kind words. I am glad you enjoy the pictures. Yes to keep things "standard" most of the Seiko dials are one size and therefore while it is good that they fit on most watches, it is also true that some need chapter rings and the overall dimensions are limited.

I guess one has to accept that and work around this factor, I tried to make the best of it.

The dial is from the BFS SNK011 and it does look like the Seiko Ana, but the last Ana i saw on sale was at least 3 time the price of this one, since they have just about the same movement, I consider this close enough. But since I have one already of these (Seiko Frecce Tricolori) this watch above will be put on sale soon.
