    Pre-Baselworld Mido Commander...and Mine!

According to the WUS article Mido is celebrating it's "100th Anniversary" with a new heritage Commander model.

I thought I'd show off mine as well as the new "Commander Shade" on a mesh bracelet.

What do you think of the new one...and mine?

I like your model; it has a largely timeless look. The new version is stuck in the '70s and is not my bag.

I like them both. I had a Commander datoday with the silver sunburst dial and thought it to be a great watch. Not really sure why I sold it now...

The Mido Commander is such a cool watch, especially on the mesh bracelet. Glad to see the brand getting more “in the game” with their recent releases.

I picked up their titanum diver, the Ocean Star Captain, last year and I am very, very impressed with the fine details on the watch for its price. Left me wanting to add one of their classic designs to my collection.

Posting pics isn’t working for me right now, or I’d add a gratuitous wrist shot!

Great looking watches. Very distinctive style, which I admire. I think the retro touches are spot on without being overkill here.

    Re: Pre-Baselworld Mido Commander...and Mine!

Mine is fairly interesting in that it has a "concealed" crown if you look again, which was somewhat popular at the time.

It also has "even" numbers on the dial. Numbers at all on the Ocean Star Commander are pretty rare, especially ones at 2, 4, 6, etc.

The only problem with mine is the proprietary "Aquadura" crown sealing system. I think the "cork" stem seal might be drying up and it's hard to wind. Runs like a champ!

"In 1934, Mido invented the unique Aquadura cork crown sealing system. It ensures complete water-resistance with a specially treated piece of natural cork, which is nestled around the crown shaft. A secret treatment keeps the cork moist and thus preserves its elasticity for years. Even if the crown is not fully pushed in, it is still water-resistant. Aquadura is designed for frequent contact with water up to 50 meters (5 bar) but not for deep water diving."

The heritage Commander certainly captures the spirit of earlier models. It's a fine looking design on that mesh bracelet. Will there be more than one color in that fade-out dial?
