    Pre-owned sources

I am familiar with WatchRecon and of course EBay but I know a lot of people buy pre-owned watches. Are there other, commonly used, sources I am missing?

    Where are you located?

I only get mine from bricks and motar stores because I'm just over cautious.

That being said, whilst I'm in Australia, I'd have no hesitation buying from HQ Milton; they're expensive but you get what you pay for. Bob's watches is also good from what I understand but I haven't had any direct experience with them

I've done some of everything-- eBay, forum sellers, brick and mortar, and a couple AD. I make some effort to ck that the seller has some kind of history, but that is often just a forum presence. My experiences have been pretty good.

It can really depend on what brands you're looking for, but for pre-owned I've had good experiences with Jacek at HQ Milton, Crown & Caliber, and Govberg.

That's probably the best thing, irrespective of whether it's on line or physical trade - buy the seller.

You wouldn't be inclined to buy from someone called Rolexdude69 who's gotten 100 posts by just saying "Nice watch" or "Get the Rolex" over and over (it's quite easy to do this in the sub forums that no one visits).

The places I get mine from are from established second hand watch dealers (and watches, or horological related items, are all they deal in)

THe Watch Deals section right here is a good place to start. I have bought and sold over 200 watches, 90% on the bay, the rest here, and haven't had a bad deal yet--you just need to use due diligence that is appropriate for the context--check seller's feedback, ask questions, study the listing words and pictures carefully, and know (research the watch, read reviews, etc.) what you are buying before you take the plunge--if for any reason you think something isn't quite right about a deal, walk away--there are plenty others around the corner.

    Re: Pre-owned sources

In addition to the sources already posted, also check out Tourneau, Ashford, Topper Fine Jeweler's, Amazon and Jomashop. All are viable options for shopping pre-owned.
