    Question Quality Quartz for dad..

    Hey everyone

I couldn't really find the right forum for this but here goes:

Dad just stuffed his watch. It was a stainless steel quartz cheapie.
I'm looking for a quartz watch with a leather strap that has and a strong and shock resistant movement. A date window would be nice but it would add to the cost.

Could you suggest a watch please?

How about a Bathys watch? Comes in a swiss quartz movt with strap and deployment clasp w/date about $600.. If you want to go less expensive, you can never go wrong with a citzen or seiko

Unless you are interested in getting into the very high end quartz models, just about any quartz watch made will satisfy your needs for durability and shock resistance. There are only a handful of quartz movement makers so your choice can be based on style and case quality. I second the motion for Citizen or Seiko. Hamilton is another brand to consider. Or the Wenger/Swiss Army models.
Why not have a look at ewatches.com - they are a WUS sponsor. Or post in their forum. Andy is a nice guy and can advise you as well.

Sector, Certina DS, Tissot, Longines, Wenger, Victorinox, Sinn (if it has to be tough and gets wet ).

My dad wears a luminox, he is not a shirt and tie man. More of the outdoor type, shooting, fishing that kind of thing. He likes these because they are pretty tough, have a decent swis quartz movement, doesn't have to worry about getting them wet. He also likes the tritium vials. He likes to be able to see the time even when pitch black. They are a very affordable watch, but come on rubber not leather.
