    question about Big Dates

Hello! I have really started to enjoy the look of a big date on the dial. I am more partial to automatic watches though. Is there a big date automatic around the $1k or lower? I'm just curious about that. If anything I would break down and try to find the quartz Bathys 100 fathoms. Thanks in advance!

Most of the chinese BigDate watches are less $1K. Others I don´t know.

Thanks Mike! I'll take a look around. After I posted this I saw an ad for a Citizen Eco Drive with a big date too.

Longines? I don't think they're under $1k but its around the ballpark.

If you're willing to consider quartz, the Seiko Premier Kinetic SNP015P is a beautiful perpetual calendar big date with a 4 year power reserve. Under $500 shipped.

Thanks Vandice! The Seiko looks beautiful as you said! It's hard not to consider it.

I also found a Trias watch that looks quite interesting.

Trias is made is Germany with external parts, according to forum sources. I'm not sure you can call it German quality for the money.

Be careful with big dates. Some of the cheaper one have "32" follow "31" instead of "01."

This is the cheapest one I'm aware of. Also watches with the new Valgranges movements have a larger date wheel that is close to a big date, very readable, esp compared with the older ETA28xx movements:

Thumbs Up Re: question about Big Dates

I used to won a Jean Marcel Flyback Chrono that retails for ~$4500, but on the "real" market everyone has been selling it for ~$1000, so maybe you could pick that one up again as it's been passed to many different people. Very handsome watch, but it was a bit too dressy for me, but it is a very nicely built watch and comes with a top notch box & paperwork. Here's a couple of pics:
