    Question about college kid's collection

FIRST THREAD: I'm glad to have finally joined the community! So as a broke college kid, it's hard to add to my watch collection. I've only just started adding some nice ones to the bunch (i.e. 2 Bulovas and a Movado). My question for all of you is do you think it's frowned upon that I have 3 Armitrons and a Relic? I understand a lot of guys look down on these, but they are what got my collecting started. Is it worth keeping these and continuing to wear them?

Who cares what people frown upon? It's your collection, and if you like it that is all that matters.
You may not get a lot of compliments on it among watch people, but at the end of the day normal folks don't care (most care about looks alone) and you should not care either.

I've had a movado for 10 years and still enjoy wearing it. As for the others, you won't get anything if you try to sell em so just continue wearing them proudly.

Or throw them in a drawer and forget about them :)

The average college student isn't going to care what you have on your wrist. Wear what you want in good health.

I'm a college student myself and you can really make a nice collection out of affordable pieces.

Very true! It's always nice to get compliments from fellow peers who like what's on my wrist.

1.)Sell the Armitrons and Relic, if you can.
2.)Use the money to purchase the Seiko SKX007.
3.)Enjoy one of the most durable and affordable watch of all time.
To be honest most college students don't notice or care what is on someones wrist.
The only person who should care is you, and only you can determine what you want in a watch collection.
I am also a college student and I currently wear my Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical.
It is about the same price as the SKX007 ($240) with a better movement (in my opinion).
The Hamilton is not as durable and the lume is awful but it is a nicer looking watch (again, my opinion).
If you can only get one then get the SKX007 (I plan on getting one soon).

    Try eBay or Amazon.
I have never sold any watches myself but eBay might be your best bet.
I would not sell your watches if you like them, instead I would save up for the SKX007.
This choice is up to you to decide.
    Good Luck!

Re: Question about college kid's collection

    First, welcome to the forum.

Second, don't sell your Armitrons and Relic for the money - you won't get much. Sell them because you don't like them and they just add clutter and take up room. I sold a couple titanium Fossils I had kicking around when I first joined here. I sold one here for $10 and one on eBay for $20. I don't regret it because I didn't like them anymore. But Armitron has a long history and I believe they are still American owned - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armitron.

As I mentioned, don't sell them for the money. You won't get much.

And if you're buying an SKX007 for $240, you're doing something wrong. I got one from Rakuten for $120. The Yen is weak.
