    Question about Seiko models

I'd like to add a Seiko to my collection but with so many models and price ranges, I'm confused about what to search for. I can't tell the difference between a good quality and very good quality Seiko from the model numbers. I want to stay under $500 and get something simple and elegant but not overly dressy. Not looking for a diver or chronograph. Would like to have a white or silver face, with hour markers rather than Arabic numbers or Roman numerals. Would prefer a date function and a diameter in the 38-42 range. What models would you recommend to get the highest level of workmanship at this price point? Pictures welcome. Thank you.

    Or the SARB035:

Can't go wrong with either, I've had both, flipped my SARB035 because it was tough getting a good fit on the bracelet, and my SARB065 (Cocktail Time) is a keeper, that one will never get sold.

Basically you described both these watches to a tee.

    Question about Seiko models

The SARB 035 fits every requirement. I have one and it's a great watch!

    Re: Question about Seiko models

This would fit the bill I believe?
SNM041K1, very nice patterned dial, sapphire , automatic and only a little over 200$, sometimes can even get'em for less than that <100$. Movement is 7S36 (non-hacking) but hard to beat the value at this price.
Dealmoon - Seiko 3-Hand with Date Automatic Men's watch #SNM041K1

For something closer to your original budget, I'd also reccommend the SARB035.

    Re: Question about Seiko models

Yes, I'd think several of the SARB models would fit the bill here.

EDIT : Man, I'm slow... but at least I agreed with everyone else.

Seiko's JDM models are really good value for the $$.

Take a look at seiyajapan.com and c-watch.co.jp, they have the best listings of latest JDM models.

Personally, I really like the SARG001

If you don't mind maxing out your budget, check out the SARX013. Very attractive, and a nicer bracelet, (one might opine), than the watches one level down.

The SARB watches really are very good - that's why so many here have recommended the 035.

SARB035 would be my pick. The 6R15 movement is quite amazing.
