    A question about transparent backs?

Is it possible to fit a transparent back onto a vintage watch by removing the current back? Would such a thing ever be produced to fit these types of watches?

    Thanks

Yes, there are a good number of display backs out there made for specific watches. It would depend on what watch you have.

Welcome to the forum! Definitely possible, at least with many watches. What is possible would depend on the specifics of your watch.

And in addition I think your approach of having a new display back created is excellent because it preserves the original.

Depending on how vintage you're talking about, if you really want a display back you would probably need to have the current back cut to accept a crystal, and then fit one. This is not a difficult job for someone who knows what they're doing, but I don't necessarily suggest it for a number of reasons.

Bear in mind also that at least a decent number of 1960s and 1970s watches don't even have a separate, removable case back.

If the back is really plain, then I suppose one can try to find one to fit one.
(I know that Rolex is particularly popular along with speedy pro to fit aftermarket display backs)
