Question for th board re dispute

Hey people...I sold my first watch on Paypal about a month ago. So, this guy acknowledged receipt of the watch (an Alpina Extreme Diver) on 23 Jan. Then, on 7 Feb (2 weeks later) he files a dispute with Paypal saying that he wore the watch for 2 days and it worked fine, then it stopped. He took it to a watch repairer who told him that a spring had broken inside. So the buyer has filed a "Not as expected" claim with Paypal. He's also stated that even if Paypal sides with me, he'll file a dispute with his credit card company.

The watch is mechanical and it is physically impossible that it could have arrived at his place already broken; he admits to wearing it for 2 days and it worked just fine.

Does anybody have any experience with something like this? Any advice on how to proceed with both the claims (I've already responded to Paypal, but there's the looming claim with his credit card)?

    Many thanks!!

Unless you want the hassle, have him return the watch to you for a refund.

This has occurred to me (what Mr Rick suggests above). But it seems that he broke the watch!

Sounds like he broke it; why are you on the hook for it?

How did it get so late so soon?

The law is quite clear on this. Heh the liability. Same as the time tested horse trader. Horse worked fine behind the plow for a few days and after the plowing horse died.

Asking for it back means you gave a guarantee by implication? Maybe we all need to do the “as is” attachment
