    Questions about importing Seiko Sumo!

Hi, I have bought a seiko sumo....blumo from creation watches....who send it from Japan.

It's being sent by EMS Speedpost.

Has anyone had dealing with these?will I get custom charges and if so does anyone have any idea how much?

Welcome aboard. Nice choice in watches. Where are you located?

My guess is not. But it's only a guess based on my limited experience. I've bought a couple of used watches from Canadian sellers (by post), and two new watches, both from non-US manufacturers. One was sent EMS, the other DHL. No fees or duties.
Over a half century of "just the right amount of odd."

It's an amazing watch, I love mine! You won't be disappointed.

FWIW, I live in the US and have never been charged customs charges for either of my JDM Seikos.

If you are in the US they you could order from LongIslandWatch (A forum sponsor) because they are US based and carry the Sumo. If you live in the US Customs from EMS are unlikely but possible. Customs due to use of FedEx or UPS are almost always a certainty because they "expedite" the package through customs and take a fee for that service on top of the fee they charged the sender.

You can google the customs charges for jewelry and luxury items such as a watch for your country and calculate it. I've had things shipped via EMS to the states and have never had customs charge them. They weren't watches, but they were relatively expensive.

Fret not Love, chances are that Creation will ship it from Japan as a gift so HMRC don't show any interest in it. I did hear, however, that a random sample of parcels are looked at so while the chances of the VAT man coming after you are very slim indeed it's best to be prepared to cough up the extra 20% VAT.
