I have read that if one sets the quick date function on an automatic and the hour and minute hands are between the 9 and the 3, that you will damage the movement. I have never before heard of anyone ruining their watch by doing this. I always try to remember to to move the hands somewhere around the 5,6, or 7 numerals before setting the date, but there have been a few times that I have forgotten to move the hands and nothing happened to the watch. It was not damaged at all. So, is this really true? It would seem like many watches would get ruined if it were so. I have also heard that this can happen with some quartz watches also. Help me out on this guys and gals. I really need to know.
