Recommendations for an everyday dress watch

I need some recommendations of an entry level dress watch not exceeding 5000usd. What are your opinions on SS IWC Portofino as a dress watch? Many thanks.

Nice looking watch but not as nice looking as the Nomos in Chuasam’s post.

I think the Portofino doesn't get that much love here because the root movement is a Sellita 300. Odds are it's at least equal to a Top grade 2892, but that's still something that some will deride.

You've also got many Grand Seiko autos in this range.

If gray market is ok, Omega Globemaster. Granted, that bezel might not be where you want to go.

Nomos Zurich, possibly Ludwig or Orion?

    Oddball: Hentschel H2.

Yes, perhaps a sport/dress crossover. Depends on how formal you want to stay.

It's lovely and well suited to your intended use.

    Have you any reservations yourself?

Someone will be along shortly to tell you to get a Grand Seiko.

edit : how is an explorer a dress watch?

    (not my pic)

I almost always recommend getting the bracelet and adding straps as you wish. It's almost always cheaper that way.
