Rejected present: Sending back a Nomos

My wife has mentioned repeatedly that she would like a new watch, something dressier and nicer than the Quartz Hamilton Khaki ladies she's been wearing for the last 10 years. So I for Christmas I bought her a 33mm Nomos Orion. It's stunning, and fits her perfectly, and she loves it. But she's making me send it back.
She says she'd feel guilty wearing a watch that nice. And she'd rather give the money to charity.
I'm all about some charity, but really? The watch was $2200. We spend close to that at Whole Foods in six weeks. She has an iMac that cost that much that she only utilizes to about 12% of its capacity.
I told her I didn't think that the watch was really that expensive considering she'd have it the rest of her life, and could pass it on to our children or grandchildren, much better than she could an iMac, but that didn't gain traction.
Too bad. It looked so sexy on her wrist.
I guess I was trying too hard to show her how cool watches can be. She doesn't get it. She actually researched Nomos, and thinks it's an awesome company, and she thinks it's the perfect watch. She'd just rather I throw $400 away on a Marc Jacobs and call it a day.

I've been in that situation many times. She told me if it's a Rolex she'd wear everyday. JLC is reserved for special occassions. The rest of the other watches I bought her (JR etc) have been sitting in the box since day 1. But I will never buy a Rolex so she bought it herself to match mine.

Sad. I guess she doesn't appreciate the NOMOS like we do.

Yes, full refund is available. Just disappointed.

    I'm all about some charity
By an amazing stroke of luck, I am a charity. I accept paypal, but I expect the donor to pay the 3% fees.

Seriously though mate, bad luck. Try not to be too disappointed, and remember that we're always here to fill that watch-shaped hole in your life! In the meantime, just be grateful that wears a watch at all, unlike my terminally late-for-everything better half.

Money can't buy you happiness. But it can buy watches.

I once bought a very nice watch for my wife which she rejected and gave back to me. Not as good as the (much inferior) watch which I had previously given her which had been "stolen" (actually mislaid by her in the house and found after about a year). I couldn't get a refund, so got a credit which j used to buy a PAM. This I eventually sold. The proceeds from the PAM were in US dollars in a separate account. My wife later bought a Cartier at a jewelery auction, but had no cash, so that used the cash from the PAM sale. So it came full circle except for the loss of value selling the PAM, which was huge.
Moral of story is don't buy your wife a watch. Or something like that.

If she say so, I'll agree with her. The truth about believing our loving god is, giving more for other, such as charity, one will get more in return. Often people don't see it or sense it directly but I can tell you it is true. She has a kind heart, you are very lucky. If you don't want to give them all out as she said, donate half 1,000 or 500 or 200. God will be happy. She will be happy :)
