Reliability - 2 Hand Small Second vs 3 Hand Quartz

    Hey everyone,

I searched around for such answers and couldn't find any, other than one thread where the persons watch stopped operating and the movement had to be swapped out (miyota 1L45).

Is there any different in terms of reliability between these two different movement types? Do the small second quartz movements have more failures and issues in comparison to a standard 3 hand?

In terms of brands, I believe the Miyota and Rondas are both extremely reliable (quartz). Anyone disagree?

    Thanks!
    Dan

A sub seconds and sweeping (center) seconds quartz movement will be very reliable. The choice really comes down to which design appeals visually.
And yes you should expect that movements from either company will be durable as long as dead batteries are promptly swapped and case seals renewed as needed.

You're looking for potential problems where more than likely none exist.

Miyota quartz modules are so cheap it does not really matter.

A center second hand is a complication - as such, the movement with small second hand should be more robust.
