Removing AR coating on my sapphire crystal

Hi, I have a Tag F1 Chronotimer, which has a few marks and scratches on the AR coating. What's the best way to go about removing the coating altogether? Also, since the bezel is PVD coated, should I remove this before removing the AR?
    Any advice appreciated

I used aluminium mag wheel polish and Q-tips. It took a couple of hours. I did my work under a bright halogen lamp to make sure all traces AR was gone.

This would be a good idea, otherwise you run the risk of accidentally polishing off the PVD coating. Alternatively, you can mask off the bezel with tape.
