    Resetting a Quartz Chronograph

I just replaced a battery in a Kienzle quartz chronograph and noticed the timing hands did not reset to zero when I engaged the timers. I then pulled out the crown and pushed the reset button until the hands were at zero and then pushed in the crown and all seems to be functioning correctly. Question: is what I did the "proper" way of resetting a quartz chronograph after a battery change?
