Rolex BLNR vs AP Royal Oak...Swap?

    Hi All,

I am currently toying with the idea of swapping out my BLNR for an AP Royal Oak. I have had my BLNR for almost a year now and I do love it, it is a beautiful watch and wears amazingly, however I have always been a big Royal Oak fan and I'm at a point where they are in reach. The kicker is that I would also have to add my Speedy Pro to the BLNR in the swap in order to pick up the Royal Oak, which is another great and iconic piece.

I was wondering if any of you have had the experience of owning or wearing both the BLNR and Royal Oak and what your thoughts and impressions on the two watches are? Do you think it's worth swapping the BLNR and Speedy for a Royal Oak or do you think having the versatility of owning both the GMT and Chrono outweighs having just one AP? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

If you love the Royal Oak do it.

I personally wouldn't becuase I'm not a fan of the Royal Oak (or Genta watches in general). I have both a BLNR and Speedy and they are on high rotation, esp the BLNR.

Anybody know the outcome of this? I don’t ha e the patience to read 72 pages. And OP, you got a tough decision. The Rolex and speedy are so iconic that it’d be tough to trade them away (especially the speedy).

That scam post has been a good read so far, goes to show you an example of the risks in pre-owned watch dealing. I'm not worried as far as getting scammed as the watches that I am looking at are from a local trusted dealer. I know some see the BLNR as being a hard watch to acquire if I ever decided that I wanted it back, but in my area I see them available quite often, actually the dealer who I am looking at AP from has 2 BLNR's in stock right now.

Yes, agreed it is tough to see myself trading both away, I think the BLNR more so than the Speedy. The RO I am looking at is the RO Chrono so it would fill that Chrono spot in my collection and I don't think I would need two at the moment and the way I see the Speedy is that they are a pretty common watch so picking another one up in the future wouldn't be too difficult.

For me not even close, AP all the way, although if it was going to be your only watch I would think about it.
