Rolex Explorer II "Polar" vs. Omega Aqua Terra 8900 silver dial

Open to any and all criticisms and comparisons. Assume a daily watch for someone who does not dive but may swim, rarely travels outside of home timezone, and would wear a different watch for suits/business professional (so business casual and below).

    Go!

ExpII. How do you think you’d feel about that Omega in 5-10 years? I don’t think it will age well.

Rolex for me, love the Polar!!

Definitely one of my chief considerations. Will the AT stay “fresh” long term? Not sure.

I know in the minority here (on WUS), but the Polar Explorer doesn’t do anything for me. I’d go for the Explorer I, but it seems like you’re interested in a light colored dial. If a light dial is definitely your preference, I’d say a more classic Aqua Terra like this (not my pic) might be a good fit.

Strongly considered. Of the ATs, I love the current rubber strap on deployant with that little link that integrates it with the case. I don’t like the bracelet on the AT whereas the Rolex oyster bracelet is perfect for me.

There’s something about the light dial with black indices and orange accents that I love about both of these watches. If I got the Rolex, it would stay on the bracelet. If I got the AT it would be on that factory rubber strap.

I would go Explorer II but I would choose the 5 digit version. Assuming you're okay with the smaller size and red GMT hand

Intereted. Educate my ignorance, have I read complaints about the bracelets or maybe the clasps on these 5 digit Explorers versus the new 6 digits? The smaller size appeals to me.

i recently chose the 5-digit Polar Explorer II over the Omega AT GMT and the 6-digit. very happy w/ my choice. i'm more of a strap guy than a bracelet guy, so the bracelet was really a non-factor for me. i have 7 1/4" wrists, fwiw.

I Have a 5 digit also. It was an easy choice when compared to the new models. I am not sure what it is about how they are sized but it looked ridiculous on my wrist. I also own a 42mm PAM so am not opposed to slightly larger watches. But the 40mm 16570 Polar just looked proportionally better and I much preferred the red GMT hand. I would agree that the newer bracelets are a bit nicer though i think comfort wise about the same.
