    Rugged Watch Help

I'm baaaack! Having purchased two fantastic watches for my husband with help from people here, I'm back again with a request for some recommendations. I'm looking at purchasing a watch for my husband under $200 which is rugged and mainly analog (not solar powered). I was looking at the Casio G-Shocks but they are so thick and big. I'm wanting something under 44 mm....and ever meter counts, so 46 mm is too big.

Does anybody have recommendations for a cool watch that fits this category? I'd really appreciate the help!!

I'll be the first to recommend the Seiko Monster or SKX007.

Also, not all G-Shocks are big. Mine is only 41mm:

When I want something nicer, but rugged, and under 44mm (my rugged 44mm watch is in desperate need of a bracelet resizing), I wear my Hamilton Scuba chrono:

42mm. The chrono is over your budget, but the standard day-date model is 41mm and you might be able to find it for around $200 online for the quartz version.

Best of luck! And welcome back, I suppose.

By analog, I'm assuming you mean that there is no digital display on the dial? Your punctuation seems to indicate that you think analog and solar powered are opposites, when in fact there are many nice solar-powered analog watches.

    Quick questions:
    1) Analog or digital display? Are combos of the two ok?
    2) Automatic or quartz? I'm assuming quartz at this price point. . . .
    3) Since the answer to #2 is likely to be 'quartz', are you sure that you're averse to solar powered? The only other alternatives are battery powered, which requires occasional trips to have it replaced.

May I suggest the Momentum M1? I have one and it is by far my toughest watch other than my Ecozilla.

Second would have to be the Deep Blue All Purpose Diver.

I did a TON of research and found these two to be the best in this category.
    Cheers,
    Mike

Quartz yes, solar-powered no. Analog yes :) Don't like the solar powered because my husband won't wear it all the time and he puts his watches in a certain place in our walk-in closet which doesn't get exposed to sunlight. I know he would prefer not to worry about whether it's solar-powered or not.

Seiko or G-Shock is definitely your best bet. I got this Seiko Little Monster for less than 100 dollars on E-bay and put a custom Watchadoo bracelet on it but the stock Seiko bracelet is very beefy also.

It's an AWG100-1A. I got it for around $80 on Amazon.com. Solar/atomic, though. I think the Giez full analog models are pure quartz (about the same size as mine, from what I've read), but they're over $200.

Also check out the Seiko 5 Sports.

And Traser and Luminox, if a rugged look is also important. Lume is tritium, but be advised of stories of spotty QC and horrid customer service.

What do you think of this watch? I really like it although it's more than I originally planned. But heck, he's worth it. :)

It's nice looking, for sure (though way too small for me personally), but I don't know much about Nite.
