So, I’ve been looking for a watch to wear at my wedding in September. I’ve got sports watches mostly, divers, field watches, etc.
I finally settled on the SARB035 because it’s beautiful, and because it’s now discontinued and I wanted one before it’s gone for good.
WHY HAVENT I HAD ONE SOONER? I have had this watch for 4 days and it hasn’t left my wrist.
This watch is so much better in person then in photos. The way the dial changes from creamy off-white to white in different light. The cursive font on the dial. The pips of lume at the base of each indice.... Everything works so perfectly together.
And the case. There isn’t enough love given to this case. Sure it’s a bit thick for a dress watch, but the details more then make up for that. There is both brushed and polished areas on the top. The under side of the bezel is “dished”, creating a stunning side profile where the bezel almost sits into the main case. The crown operates with authority, each click when pulling it out or pushing it in is solid and reassuring. The crown winds with a satisfying mechanical feel and sound.
And the best thing? I haven’t found a strap yet that doesn’t work on this watch. Many will say this this watch belongs on alligator leather only because it’s a dress watch. I strongly disagree. I’ve had it on stainless, leather, canvas, nato, perlon, rubber.... All have looked great. The thickness of the case and the small chapter ring give this watch just enough of a field watch asthetic to get away with all these options. And it does it so well.
I can dress up or down with this watch with the swap of a strap. It will be my wedding watch, and I’ll be keeping it as long as it keeps ticking.
