Seamaster Vs. Submariner

Seamaster professional vs Submariner ,can you even compare the SMP to the Submariner anymore or do you have to jump up to the Planet Ocean anyway. Anyone own both what are their thoughts on these iconic dive watches quality wise leave price out of it.

Actually, I am probably one of the few that prefers the seamaster over the PO. It is slimmer and way more comfortable on the wrist and since I am never going to dive down to 70 meters, no need to go for more than 300 meters. As for sub or seamaster, this is strictly a personal preference. I own both and have owned them for over 15 years. I will not sell either.

it's usually the azzhats that come in and disparage one or the other watch that cause it to go down hill. And since we have several of those in this forum, I would expect them along shortly.

Sub is my daily, and I've owned about 6-7 different iterations of the older gen "Bond" SMPs = 2531.80 and 2220.80. I'd like to say I loved the SMPs, but then I also wonder if I loved them so much why I flipped them so frequently.

My favorite is the classic 2531.80. I prefer the old 1120 caliber (pre co-axial escapement), I didn't care that it wasn't "in-house", it was decorated nicely by Omega off the bulletproof 2892. It also wore ever so slightly thinner and more comfortable imo compared to the 2220.80 (maybe because of the more heavily decorated caseback).

When compared to the Sub, I thought the 2531.80 pulled off the "mission" of being able to dress down/up slightly better. The Sub falls ever slightly more on the "tool watch" side, while I thought the 2531.80 could dress up a bit better (prob cause of the bracelet) and I felt like it wore slightly thinner/more comfortable than the Sub (definitely more comfortable clasp than the older pre-glidelock Subs). This is also the reason I prefer the 2531.80 to its later generation SMP brothers. The current one, with its glossy non-wave dial, ceramic bezel, etc. has gone too much to the "dressy" side imo. Not a fan.

There was a brief time I owned both the 2531.80 and my 16610 Submariner, and I honestly thought there wasn't anything "inferior" about the 2531.80. Just different. I just preferred Rolex, cause well, I like Rolex.

I prefer submariner 100% of the time against Seamaster but with the above retro Seamaster I would go "own both".

I dislike both for the most part, so there! Gun to head Rolex if no date and Omega with a date. And unless it's a dress watch not having a date is simply wrong.

I may be holding off on any other purchases until I see this...and start a side watch fund for this release for the cash in the event I'm blown away by this piece.
